The Production Process
- There are three key stages in a successful Video Production; these are;
Stage1. Pre-Production
Project Information Gathering
Any client will almost always have something already in mind for their project, even if it is subconscious. It is important to bring these ideas and tastes out in to the open playing field for discussion as soon as possible. Otherwise you may have difficulty feeling satisfied with what is being created, productivity will be hindered and the end result may fall short of the level of quality it could have reached. Questions about what you have seen that you like or would like this production to be similar to in some way are especially helpful if you are having difficulty communicating your tastes or vision. In the end, every new client receives several, personalized concepts to make sure that we find the best concept to fit your vision.
This is the first step in the process of creating your video. We arrange a meeting to discuss all the needs for your project. The purpose for this meeting is for a budget to be determined, and to get our creative team the necessary information to prepare a quotation.
Some useful questions for planning your video production
- What is the specific topic?
- What is your budget?
- What length does it need to be?
- What content needs to be included?
- What is the desired emotive response?
- Demographics, such as who the target audience is and where or in what situations the project will be shown?
- We thoroughly research the project, the audience, your company, and even competitors or similar companies and projects for maximum accuracy and effectiveness.
- Locations for shoots are chosen and specifics are hammered down.
- A Shot List is created going line by line down the script.
A Total Cost Analysis is Assembled
A price breakdown is created according to approximate time.
- We are sure that you will be impressed with the way we maximize results even on a minimal budget.
Quotation--After careful review of the notes from the initial meeting, we prepare a quotation based on your needs and goals. Upon approval of the quotation, we proceed through the production.
Outline and Script Review--This is the meeting where you give us all the relevant information you want included in your video. When we receive all your outlined materials, our writers work with your staff to develop a script.
Shot List Preparation--Based on the script, all of the needed shots are mapped out before any shooting begins. This process is best known as storyboarding.
Scripting
3rd Eye understands that programme making often involves tight schedules. So confidence in your idea’s team is paramount. Your finished programme must imaginatively and succinctly convey your message, while being flawless in every detail. Right from the start, 3rd Eye broadcast are geared to working closely with you and your team as Partners-in-Creativity.
We take your brief, develop it through research and consultation, producing an exemplary script that completely meets with your approval, and obtains widespread consensus among your colleagues.
As soon as you're delighted with the script, your programme then moves into the next phase - Shooting & Talent
Your corporate video production may want to build on the image of your products or company, or you may need to motivate and educate your workforce, or the public. Identifying both the target audience, and the style of the programme is an essential part of the scripting process.
In summary Scripting is the writing of all draft and final scripts. The script is the unique recipe used to build your media product. It is used to generate the budget, timeline, and actual construction of your media product. The script is considered the turning point of the production process, the point at which changes in approach become more expensive and difficult to achieve. Therefore always ensure you use a productions Company such as us to ensure that the script or initial treatment has been finely worked out: this is after all the key to any successful Video production or media campaign.
The first stage of a successful production is planning. It is important to plan thoroughly by identifying clearly your Production aims, style, key messages and target audience. This planning stage is a two way process between what you tell us about your market and aims and what we can suggest to you in order to formulate effective and creative video treatments.
At all stages 3rd eye are in dialogue with our clients and our client's market or key aims. This exchange of information and ideas combined with our Production experience enable us to tightly integrate the Production from the start.
Effective and entertaining Professional video speaks volumes about you, your organisation or your Company. A well-planned, well-researched Production delivering your key messages with the right image and style for you is the goal of this stage. Pre-production planning is thus vital to ensure your Production hits its target audience with maximum force and impact. Once we have discussed the project and done the research the final step is a treatment or storyboard made and presented for client approval
Stage2. Production
Video Shoot--With our professional cameras and staff, we begin the video shoot. Following the shot list, we capture all of the footage with attention to creativity and detail.
Narration Recording--The narrator that you select records the narration that will enhance the visuals.
We have the means to produce stunning video and DVD. Working with a range of professional formats from broadcast standard kit to the sony dvcam range. 3rd eye use experienced crew to produce crisp, clean and creative video with superb content, and technical quality.
We can produce for Broadcast, Corporate clients and duplicate / encode peices for bulk vhs / dvd distribution and indeed for many formats or delivery systems in-between.
Our Production department is tightly integrated with post-production to ensure we retain throughout the pristine picture and audio quality. Digital integration at 3rd eye not only ensures high-end production values, but we reduce production costs too. This gives you quality video at competitive prices.
Stage3. Post-Production
Digital Editing--The editing process begins, following the agreed upon script. We deliver a rough edit for your review. A final edit is created based upon your feedback and creative input.
Mastering
The final presentation is mastered onto a digital format, often onto a variety of formats depending on your distribution or delivery requirements (see below). Once we have a digital master this can be mastered to DVD, to tape and kept in original digital form. We can also then encode this master for delivery via DVD, cd-rom, or for delivery via web video.
Duplicating and distribution
Each production is different and the delivery of your production is specific to your needs, whether this is video tape, cd-rom, DVD or via your Intranet or the Internet. We will deliver the master in the form you require and can handle all your duplication needs.
Our post-production facilities offer choices in both on & off line non-linear editing. Non-linear editing means that each and every aspect pf your Production from video scenes, audio, images, text, or graphics can be mixed, cropped, merged, changed or deleted as you wish, there and then.
Non-linear editing enables both faster and considerably more creative video. Our digital editing systems offer unlimited creative possibilities: special effects too: indeed everything that is necessary in order to produce stunning video productions. The second stage of post-production is the completion of a 'rough edit' for the client to see and discuss any changes. With digital non-linear editing changes to the piece can be done there and then with the client. Clients can then view the edit and take the chance to fine-tune the style, key messages and impact of the production: post production allows us to add, delete, polish off and mix all our source material creatively into a final or 'master' edit. When we have client approval this final cut can then be recorded to the format or media of your choice such as video, cd, dvd or even video for the web. 3rd eye broadcast can supply bulk-run copies in designed and printed sleeves and also archive your edit for future reference.
